Back Up and Running

So after taking two weeks off, I decided to try to run today. I ran 3 miles and it felt great. I still don't want to push it, so I'll wait until Monday for my next run and up the distance a bit.

A Bit of a Setback

So I found out today that I broke my toe! Yes, it's extremely annoying and what is more annoying is the way I broke it...stubbing it on a piece of furniture. The doctor told me stay off of running for about 4 weeks, but we'll see, I'm a bit impatient and don't think I can wait that long. I will however, take this week and next off and hit the bike, continue to do weight training and yoga and pilates.

A Mid-Week Surprise

The weather this week has been amazing so I decided to do my long run today after work. Plus, I'm heading to NY this weekend and was worried that I may not be able to dedicate time to a longer run while there. So I ended up running from my office to Georgetown, then over the Key Bridge to the Custis Trail and then the Custis Trail to the W&OD. It was a nice 13 mile run and I felt pretty good. It felt even better when I got home, jumped on the couch, and iced the knees while eating some Thai food in front of the TV :)

Week 2 - Complete!

Week 2 is complete and I find that I'm running more than scheduled if I'm feeling good. I imagine that weeks in which my body is calling for rest that I will lower the mileage during the week, but I will continue with the long run that is scheduled. If anyone is keeping up with the training plan on the sidebar, you may notice that edits are regularly made.

Other than my own donation, I received my first contribution for St. Jude's from a friend -- thanks, GC! I still have a way to go, but am optimistic I'll reach my goal.

Week 1 - Completed

Well, week 1 of training is done -- no complaints yet, but I guess my mileage really isn't all that much yet. Let week 2 begin!
